How to update a student's information

Quick answer: Open the family's record, find the student's fields, and edit them inline.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Contacts and find the family.
  2. Locate the student's fields on the family record.
  3. Click the field you want to change — name, date of birth, grade, program.
  4. Edit the value and click outside to save.

Common updates

  • Grade or program change. Usually done at the start of a new academic year, or when a child advances mid-year.
  • Name change. Usually a legal name update or a switch from a nickname to a formal name.
  • Date of birth correction. Worth fixing right away, since age affects eligibility for some programs and forms.

Tips

  • If a student is moving to a different grade, also check that any grade-specific forms or tuition plans are updated.
  • For a student who is leaving the school, don't clear out their fields — mark the family as withdrawn instead. This preserves the history.
