What is a family in Growth Suite?
Quick answer: A family is a single record in Contacts that holds everything about one household — parents, students, contact details, forms, payments, and communications.
The full picture
Growth Suite stores each household as one record in the Contacts section of the main menu. When you open the Smith family, you see everyone in that household and everything happening with them on a single page: parents, children, tuition plan, forms, communications, and notes.
Inside Growth Suite, these records are technically called "contacts," but functionally they are families. Throughout this knowledge base we use the words interchangeably — when you see "contact" in the menu, think "family record."
What lives on a family record
- Parent 1 (the primary contact for the family)
- Parent 2 (if applicable)
- Up to four students, stored as fields on the family record
- Address and household-level information
- Tags including the current academic year
- Notes added by your team
- Conversations — every email, text, and message sent to the family
- Forms the family has been asked to complete
- Tuition plans and payment history
- Volunteer hours, if your school uses that module
