Understanding two-parent households

Quick answer: A family can have one or two parents stored on the same record. Both can receive emails and messages from your school.

How two-parent families work

Every family has a Parent 1 — the primary contact. This is the parent your school's billing and most communications default to. Families can optionally add a Parent 2, stored on the same family record with their own name, email, and phone number.

When you send a communication to a family, you can choose to send it to Parent 1 only, Parent 2 only, or both. Most schools default to both for newsletters and general notices, and Parent 1 for billing.

Why this matters

Two-parent households are the majority of private school families. Communicating with only one parent is one of the most common sources of frustration. Growth Suite is designed so you don't have to make this decision message by message — your school sets defaults during onboarding, and the system handles routing automatically.
