How to delete a family record
Quick answer: Almost never. Withdrawing is almost always the right action. Permanent deletion is rare and handled by your Growth Suite support team.
Why deletion is restricted
Deleted family records are gone permanently. All payments, forms, conversations, and notes disappear with them. There is no undo. Most "delete this family" requests are actually situations where the family withdrew or was created as a duplicate — and the right action is to withdraw or merge instead.
Your school may have disabled the Delete button on family records entirely as a safeguard. If you don't see a Delete option, that's intentional.
When deletion is appropriate
- A test record created during onboarding that was never a real family
- A clearly mistaken entry (typo of an existing family, with no real interactions)
- A duplicate that has no unique data worth preserving
When deletion is NOT appropriate
- A family withdrawing or that has withdrawn — use the withdrawal process
- A family with any payment history, form submissions, or conversations you might need later
- A family who might re-enroll someday
Step-by-step
- Confirm deletion is truly appropriate. Re-read the section above if unsure.
- Contact your Growth Suite support team with the family record details and the reason.
- The support team will confirm and process the deletion if appropriate.
